Todd, could you take a look at Okposo? Production w/o Tavares. I think he would be good analytically because they are a playoff team, but I would rather stay away because of how much he could want, for how long and his eye injury is a concern to me.

I don't understand going after Boedker anyway, have Cam if healthy, which he most likely would at the beginning of the year, Boucher on the second line, and either Elias if brought back or Blandisi on the third line. And if Cam is injured, Q or Wood could be called up this year and given a shot.

I think if the give him mostly offensive zone starts and don't put him on the point he wouldn't be that bad of an addition

Boedker is going get way overpaid and unless we really think Stamkos would sign here, there aren't any superstar sure thing goal scorers available as UFAs this year.

I think Shero would be better suited to look at cap ceiling teams with pending RFAs to trade with like Palmieri last draft. Try to add a top 4 defenseman and add some punch to the bottom 6 with a guy like Troy Brouwer.

The devils should stay away from 1,000's of hockey players, but you don't see me writing a blog about each of them.

I'd agree on staying away from Boedker. I'd also prefer on staying away form erickson. wouldnt mind okposo depending on term/salary.

The guy I am most interested in is Martin on NYI. Not sure what salary I'd offer, but he is a guy who would bring toughness and he can actually skate and play on our 4th. Reshaping our bottom 6 is a necessity, and i would gladly take an upgrade over tootoo.

I actually don't think our bottom 6 will need much work going into next season if we add someone that can play top 6 RW. If we get one our bottom 6 could look like:
Boucher-Zacha-DSP
Pietila-JJ-Kalinin

Who is on the 2nd line LW? I would leave Boucher with Zajac and Palmieri. If the Devils bring back Elias I could see him with Zacha. With Blandisi, I think he is either with Zacha if Elias isn't back on the LW or with Elias on the RW, with DSP on the 4th line. Or have Blandisi be in Albany for some extra time, it wouldn't hurt him and could help him playing with Wood and Q there.

Something like

Cam-Henrique-?
Boucher-Zajac-Palmieri
Elias/Blandisi(if no Elias)-Zacha-Blandisi/DSP
Kalinen-JJ-DSP/Pietilla

Get rid of Gio. And change Okposo to Nash?

I don't think the Devils should be locking UFA's up long term. Nash would be a short term move and could bring other assets as compensation.

I don't hate Gio as much as everybody else seems to. Sure there are probably better options out there for a 4th line center who kills penalties, but there are also worse options out there for a 4th line center who kills penalties. Way I see it, Gio and JJ should duke it out for that spot. Tough decision for Hynes though because neither can seem to score 5v5 (then again who can on this team? AMIRIGHT), but JJ is half decent on the PP and Gio is an excellent PK man. As far as Okposo goes, I would not mind grabbing him if he is available at the right price. Considering that price will probably be as high as ever, I'd much more be interest in seeing Shero pull off another "Palmieri" type move at the draft. Bring in a guy from a team who can't afford to pay him in exchange for a draft pick or 2 OR try and work out a deal with Edmonton for one of those fancy fowards they have been talking about trading for what seems like forever now. I can see the first option being more of a possibility because Edm would most likely want one of Larsson, Severson or Santini and if Shero has half a brain he won't trade any of those 3. Then again I've seen crazier things go down. Anyway, hope everyone enjoys their summers, the count down to October has officially started!

Oh and one last thing, not to contradict myself, but if Edmonton makes Taylor Hall available, that's an entirely different story. I would trade damn near anyone one of our defenseman if Hall (or McDavid, HAH YAH RIGHT) was the return.

I live in Colorado and saw him post-trade (TV and in person). Not impressed with what he provided the Avs.

Buyer beware.

Something like that. If we bring Elias back it could always be in a teemu role where he's not playing back to back if everyones healthy.

God I hate the Flyers. What a malicious hit on Orpik. For sure concussion and no penalty. (frank) White. Disgusting.

This game is a total poop show. Well, it's just a normal Flyers game realistically but still a poop show.

I'd expect Palmieri on the top line RW. There aren't many potential 30 goal scorers on this team and he proved this season if you give him minutes he can be one.

A better question is who gets top line LW minutes. Cam is a sure thing to miss some time.

What penalty would you like to have seen called there?

He stopped striding a good 10 feet before delivering the hit, stayed on his feet and didn't hit in the numbers. I get the Flyers are usually scumbags, but I didn't see the issue with the hit.

I don't think the refs can call a penalty that disbands a whole team.

Fair point. I just didn't find the White hit to be particularly dirty, and Orpik is no saint.
